About Us
About Us
The Northwest Territories (NWT) Jewish Cultural Society was established in December 2025 in an effort to bring together our Northern Jewish community and preserve our culture and traditions, and celebrate holidays.
Our mission is to strengthen Jewish life in the NWT by creating a welcoming space where people can connect to Jewish culture, traditions and learning.
We will do this through:
Cultural programming
Education
Advocacy
Our vision is to provide a safe and inclusive space for Jewish people in the NWT, and to foster meaningful connections within the Jewish community and community at large.
We are inclusive and egalitarian, welcoming all people whether observant, non-observant, or not Jewish at all.
We recognize Jewish peoplehood as a diverse identity encompassing religion, ethnicity, culture, tradition, and nationhood, and acknowledge that it does not fit neatly within conventional definitions of race and faith.
Celebrating Jewish holidays with our members and the community at large creates opportunities for connection, dialogue, and shared celebration.
Inviting Jewish youth and families to participate in programming supports cultural identity and deepens intergenerational and community ties.
Engaging in respectful dialogue across cultures and faiths creates opportunities for connection, trust, and lasting relationships.
